The excerpts below are reproduced from the Ictis Anthology — a working paper produced during research for the project. Some of the results were spun off into New Perspectives on the Ictis of Pytheas of Massalia.

Why this source matters
Sulpicius’ notice of exile to the Scillies is a rare late Roman literary anchor for the islands as inhabited and politically usable space. In the anthology it acts as a reality check on reconstructions that require the archipelago to have had an otherwise unattested industrial or metropolitan role.
